It’s no secret that my all time favorite wines are from the Famiglia Meschini winery. I love, love, love the Torrontes – it’s perfect for sipping on the porch or paired with a spicy shrimp dish. The Malbec Reserva is to-die-for and the Premium Malbec-Syrah has become our “house wine.” It’s great with anything from burgers, to pasta, to steak. Seriously, all their wines have been great discoveries.
Last week they launched their Fattoria Colmone line – Italian wines made by their Meschini cousin! How cool is that?! Fattoria Colmone is located in the territory of San Severino Marche in Central Italy, an area particularly vocated for wine production. All the wines I tasted were fantastic. My favorite was a wine I didn’t even know existed – a white Sangiovese! Bianco di Moro IGT is 100 % Sangiovese IGT, expressing the refined elegance of a great white, with the full body and structural harmony of a great red. The color is almost clear with aromas of white flowers, apple and peach. The palate was fresh, rich and full-bodied. So yummy! And Giovani Meschini is just as down to earth and charming as Teresa & Eugenio!
The wine tasting was such a memorable experience – great wine, great food, and great people! I can’t wait to invite some friends over and host a mini Famiglia Meschini wine party in my backyard!
