One of the hottest food and drink pairings today is beer and cheese. We’ve decided to invite our favorite, Irish friends over and begin our St. Patrick’s Day gathering with an Irish Beer & Cheese Pairing!
Beer’s broad range of flavors, textures and aromas makes it ideal match to any kind of food, from sausages to the most luxurious gourmet food. A good rule of thumb according to the beerologists is to match strength with strength. Its common sense that delicate dishes pair best with delicate beers and so on. Combinations work best when the food and beer share a common flavor or aroma. The challenge is on!
This group loves the two Irish beers; Smithwick’s Pale Ale and Guinness. So I’m thinking our cheese pairing will include an aged Gouda, an aged Irish Cheddar and a Goat Cheese Tart with Asparagus & Bacon – yum! Click here for recipe.
