Super Bowl Crowd Pleasers

Whether you’re a die-hard football fan,  you’re in it for the commercials, or you simply love a reason to throw a party, we’ve got you covered.

A Super Bowl party must have 5 things:

  1.  Beer
  2.  Chicken Wings
  3.  Cheese platter
  4.  Chips & Dips
  5.  Family & Friends

How to incorporate “Beer” into your party – not that this needs any further explanation:

  • Ask your guests to bring a 6 pack of  their favorite craft beer to share.
  • Our beer menu always includes Budweiser in honor of the official Beer sponsor.
  • Add beer to your chili or try my favorite:  Lucia’s Bean, Sausage, & Beer Chili – so yummy!
  • Serve the official Budweiser Cheese Dip – it’s a real crowd pleaser!

Budweiser Cheese Dip:          Yield 10 oz of dip

1 can Budweiser, 8 oz sharp cheddar, shredded,  8 oz Gruyere, shredded, 1 tblsp flour, 2 tblsp Worcestershire, 1 tblsp Sriracha hot chili sauce, 1/2  onion, medium diced, 1/2  tblsp garlic powder, 1/2  tblsp chili powder, 1 tblsp olive oil, 1/2  tblsp salt, 1/2 tblsp pepper.

In a mixing bowl, mix the two cheeses together with the flour making sure that all three ingredients are fully incorporated.  In a medium sauce pot, heat on high and add olive oil until it starts to smoke.  Immediately add onions and sauté until light golden brown.  Season sautéed onions with garlic powder, chili powder, salt and pepper and stir until mixed.  Deglaze by adding beer, Worchester, and sriracha.  Bring to a boil and then add cheese/flour mix ¼ at a time.  Be sure to constantly stir and ensure that most if not all of the cheese is melted before adding the next batch.  Serve very warm with crackers, pretzels, or bread.

Chicken Wings – the Ultimate Crowd Pleaser

Perhaps one of your football superstitions is serving the same chicken wing recipe and throwing the bones over your shoulder.  Hey, if it’s working for you, keep the tradition going.  If not, you should try this amazing recipe:  Dr. Pepper Chicken Wings –  I guarantee you’ll love them!

Cheese Platters – Serve a variety of 3-4 cheeses

Some of my favorite cheeses that pair well with beer include:  Aged Gouda-like Prima donna or Vincents, smoked Gouda’s,  Sartori Gold Bellavitano – rich, creamy, nutty with a butter finish, Carr Valley Baby Cheddar – a creamy, semi soft cheddar, and a hearty Cheese spread with Bacon & Horseradish.

Must have condiments:  smoked almonds, red pepper jelly or spicy mustard.  LaPanzanella crackers,  Trader Joe Fig & Olive crackers, and bagel chips for the cheese spread – yum!

You’re sure to score big with any of these additions to your Big Game spread!  May your favorite team win!
