I’m a big fan of wine “blends”. Blends are what their name suggests – they typically consist of at least 40-50% of one type of grape and a smaller amount of two or more other grapes. Blending makes wine more complex, it can enhance aromas, color, texture, body, and finish making it more well-rounded wine.
Bogle, Essential Red 2013 is exceptionally well balanced and elegant. Every0ne I serve it to, love’s it! It’s intensely jammy with ripe cherry and luscious vanilla tastes from being aged in American & French Oak barrels for 12 months and a dark chocolate finish. Yum! This is a great wine for the Casual Chic foodie style – it’s perfect for sipping along with a bowl of pistachio’s and then paired with a steaming bowl of black bean chili – amazing pairing!
The other good news – it’s under $10, just amazing!
Here’s a fun review of the 2011 (I believe it’s sold out!) from youtube Two Thumb Up. Enjoy!
