Smokey & Fiery BBQ Party
In preparation for our “its time to get out of Minnesota and head somewhere warm vacation”, we thought it’d be fun to invite our friends over for a winter BBQ party. 28 degrees, snow, ice… sounds like a BBQ to me!
Whenever I’m planning a BBQ menu or looking for recipes with a little heat, I turn to my favorite BBQ guy, Bobby Flay. I really like Bobby’s philosophpy of getting the biggest, boldest flavor possible from food and fire while making healthy choices all the way.
In planning this party, I went to Bobby’s – Grilling for Life cookbook and started looking for recipes to build my menu. Here is what I selected:
Appetizer: Garlic-Red Chili-Thyme-Marinate Shrimp and of course, Chips, Salsa and Margaritas!
Entree: Orzo Salad with Mustard Dill Vinaigrette and Smokey & Fiery Skirt Steak wiht Avocado-Oregano Relish
Dessert: Grilled Apricots with Bittersweet Chocolate and Almon
We asked everyone to wear their favorite summer shirt/t-shirt, handed everyone a margarita upon arrival, played Jimmy Buffet music – a great time was had by all!
