As a foodie, I love that the chef and proprietor, Scott Graden is self taught, credits his food roots back to his parents kitchen as the heart of his family life, and strives to create an enjoyable culinary experience for everyone who enters his café. I really love the subtlies of his recipes/menus and the fact that the foundation of everything is really good cooking! The wait staff is extremely knowledgeable and helps you select entrees that compliment your palate and introduces you to new flavors – that’s the combination of great training & the gift of hospitality!
Here are a few dishes I find myself dreaming about:
Warm Black Mission Figs with browned butter maple syrup sauce, served with a wedge of Danish blue cheese & toasted ciabatta bread- so good! – (seasonal item)
Prosciutto, medjool date, & arugula on grilled sourdough ciabatta – fantastic!
Miso-marinated Sea Bass is simply, amazing! Maple Pot de crème – need I say more – heavenly!
Located on the North Shore of Lake Superior, 20 minutes north of Duluth you’ll find this humble looking café facing the lake, surrounded by a gorgeous garden filled with herbs, vegetables, and fragrant flowers. You must Stop, Go in as you are, and enjoy lunch or dinner – I promise you’ll love it!
Their website says: “The café looks humble but what awaits inside is anything but ordinary.” I couldn’t agree more! Whether you are a foodie or a foodie wanna-be, you must make The New Scenic Café a part of your North Shore experience!
