Selecting the perfect wine for Thanksgiving can be an overwhelming task. Do you select a wine that will pair with your appetizers as well as dinner? Should you have a variety of wines on hand, what about the family member who loves “red” wine and then the other who will only drink a “white” wine. What’s a host to do?
I don’t get all hung up on serving the “perfect” wine with my turkey and sides. Instead, I follow three simple tips:
2. It’s a celebration so I begin our gathering with a glass of Proseco. It’s a lovely aromatic bubbly with a subtle, ripe fruit flavor and an easy finish. I could easily drink this all day on Thanksgiving, or any day for that matter!
3. I generally serve a Pinot Grigio with dinner. A white wine that has a nice spice and rich fruit flavor that stands up well to the abundance of rich dishes as well as the turkey. Some of my favorites include; the Bianco Pinot Grigrio by Coppola and Jacuzzi Pinot Grigio.
5. Chill the white wine and serve the red at room temperature.
Let these five tips make selecting your Thanksgiving wine simple and easy! Join me tomorrow for some Thanksgiving toasts and ways to express your gratitude this year. See you then!
