Wine of the Week

Famiglia Meschini, Premium Malbec 2008

This is an amazing Malbec!  In fact, I would run not walk and pick up a bottle to enjoy tonight.  Eric, the wine guy, turned me onto this stellar Malbec.  The Famiglia Meschini winery is owned by a Minneapolis couple (awesome) whose goal is to produce the best full bodied, authentic, Argentinean wine at an affordable price point.  In my humble opinion, they have achieved their goal!

The Premium Malbec is rich in color with shades of garnet. The nose is abundant in red and black fruits. Round and silky, it delivers all the qualities that make this wine one of my favorite wines. It has complex aromas with ripe plums, blackberry, blueberry, licorice, black pepper, mint, with a hint of mocha flavors, giving an expressive and typical Argentinean character. It has sweet and smooth tannins, and a nice body with supple and long finish.  It is by far the best Malbec I’ve tried.
It’s great on its own or Eric recommends pairing it with grilled pork chops, pork roast or barbecued pork ribs.  I think it’s great with grilled pizza.   The other great thing – it is under $15.   I found it at my local liquor store on sale for $9.99.

Enjoy!

    DeeAnn,
I thank you for your review of Famiglia Meschini premium malbec. As you may know, Eugenio is from Argentina where we have our vineyard but we live in South Minneapolis with our family. The amazing local support our wine has received is heartwarming. Like you we are following our passion and it has made all the difference in the world.
    Cheers,
    Teresa Meschini
